All the Magic that is the InstaPot

Instant Pot.  Instapot.  Do you have one?  You should probably get one, if you don’t.  We’ve been scoping this thing out for a while, but waited until Black Friday to score this magic that is the instapot for less than 50% of the normal price.  Magic pot plus scored it for a great price?!  WINNER!!!  Winner winner, chicken dinner 🙂

Here are a few reasons why we like our instapot:

  1. Go from frozen meat to cooked meat in minutes!  Seriously, no more defrosting, no more forgetting about taking the meat out ahead of time.  This is especially helpful when dinner time can be an already hectic time and a race against the clock.
  2. 7 functions on ONE machine!!!  Yes, it is a pressurer cooker, slow cooker, yogurt maker, rice cooker, to name a few.  Some people I know have gotten rid of their rice cooker since the instapot is a rice cooker, but we have decided to keep our rice cooker because we will probably use our instapot and rice cooker at the same time.  Also, we usually don’t cook too much rice at a time, so our small rice cooker is perfect.  For the time being, we are also holding onto our slow cooker because it is bigger than our instapot.
  3. Welcome to flavor town!  I’ve been able to achieve greater depth of flavors with using the pressure cooker function on the instapot.
  4. Need to saute meat to prepare it beforehand?  No problem, you can saute the meat in the same pot that it will be in when you turn on the pressure cooker.  All-in-one.

So far, we’ve made beef stew, chicken and dumplings, and chicken stock with our instapot.  (Pictured below.)

The only drawbacks that I’ve experienced so far is based on my limited understanding of how to use this machine to it’s fullest potential.  I’ve never used a pressurer cooker before, so that’s also new turf in learning the nuts and bolts of how that all works.  Nothing pinterest (and the web) can’t solve with a little research/perusing 😉  It’s been fun looking up recipes, diversifying our normal dinner routines, and extreme peace of mind knowing that dinner will get on the table at a normal dinner-time hour.

Do you have an instapot?  I’d love to hear your favorite recipes!  Please share!
